Tax for classic car owners

The chancellor brought some fantastic news for classic car owners in his budget earlier this year, announcing that cars built before 1976 qualify for FREE road tax from 1st April 2016. This announcement declares that “from April 1st each year, vehicles constructed more than 40 years before January 1st of that year will automatically be exempt from paying Vehicle Excise Duty (VED)”.

Lancaster Insurance is delighted to be strengthening its association with Minis, by announcing a new partnership with the British Mini Club. Lancaster Insurance has a long history of working with the marque and is currently restoring a 1969 Morris Mini Super Deluxe, in aid of Prostate Cancer UK.

Stuart Turp from Barnsley, South Yorkshire, became the first winner of the inaugural Lancaster Insurance Pride of Ownership at the Practical Classics Restoration and Classic Car Show, as visitors to Birmingham’s NEC voted his 1969 Ford Capri 1600 GT XLR as their ‘Pride and Joy’.

After a successful debut last year, the Pride of Ownership display is back at this year’s Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show with a bang. With new sponsors, Lancaster Insurance, on board the show is once again inviting privately owned classics to take part in the popular display for classic cars at the show in November.
