How long have you been working with classic cars?
I have been working with Lancaster since January, although I have always been an enthusiast.
What role do you play at Lancaster Insurance? What does a typical day look like?
I work in the Multi-Vehicle department. I look after quotes for new customers and renewals mainly.
What inspired you to work in the classic car industry?
I enjoy talking with people and if I can do that about something I’m really into, that’s a bonus.
Do you own a classic car? If yes, what make/model/year is it?
Currently no. I have previously owned a mk3 Ford Escort and an XR2I. I would love to get another classic ford at some point, it’s just finding the time to do it.
If you could own any classic car, what would it be and why?
My dream car is an Aston Martin DB5, it was used by James Bond and it is stunning.
Have you ever come across a particularly interesting classic vehicle policy while working for Lancaster?
Absolutely! I recently spoke with a Gent who wanted to insure two Maclaren’s worth half a million pounds. It’s not every day that you see those sorts of figures. Another one that stands out is a customer who has a fantastic collection of 5 Jaguar E Types, they are all absolutely mint. The passion that people have for these collections is amazing, you can tell they are loved!
What is the unique selling point for taking out a policy with Lancaster?
We have some amazing add on’s, for me the RAC breakdown cover is a no brainer. The fact it covers all your vehicles for such a great price, it’s just a great deal with a trusted company. Personally, I believe that our biggest selling point is our staff. On the Multi Vehicle team, we end up getting to know our customers and the collections. We speak to so many people that are adding vehicles or selling them on that we get the chance to build a relationship with them. It’s one of the nicest things about working for this department.
