THE P6 ROVER OWNERS CLUB. A BIRTHDAY WITH STYLE

29 March 2022

Life begins at 40 so they say, and it’s certainly the case for the P6 Rover Owners Club who are celebrating the remarkable landmark birthday in style this year.

This is the biggest Rover Owners Club in the world, with more than 900 members. Offering a one stop shop for P6 events, technical information and regional meetings, it’s the go to club for P6 enthusiasts all over the globe, to share their common love of the classic saloon.

“The P6 Rover Owners Club (P6ROC) are friendly and professional, with someone always at the end of the phone or email to answer any questions," says' club organiser Deborah Squires, Editor of the brilliant bi-monthly P6 News.

“One of the key elements of any club is to be able to communicate with members and be run efficiently.”

The P6ROC will host their own 40th anniversary National Show at Rufford Abbey Country Park at Newark on 17th July, which will be a wonderful celebration of an amazing 40 years. Originally formed to support the P6 model and from humble beginnings, the club is now able to offer incredible technical information for enthusiasts, a large availability of parts, and amazing P6 events throughout the year.

“We’re all just so excited and proud, and we can’t wait for Rufford, which is a milestone event with hundreds coming from all over the country to celebrate our 40th anniversary. Everyone and every type of vehicle are welcome at the National Show.”

The Club’s full colour 48-page magazine, ‘P6 NEWS’, comes out every two months and offers a great way of members keeping in touch with news on meetings, events and cars/parts for sale.

There are currently 22 regional monthly meetings spread across the UK and some overseas, so the network continues to grow, with members as far afield as Australia, New Zealand and Thailand.

The P6ROC also has a Technical Advice Team, who are available to answer members queries on history, servicing and repairs. They can also help with tips on restoration and rebuilding your classic Rover, offering specialised parts and services.

“In more recent years the values of the P6 Rover have increased dramatically” says Deborah, “with the best condition V8’s reaching over £20k for show winning P6s.”

It is a truly momentous year for a truly wonderful car club, but why the P6? Is it possible to sum up its fascination for so many enthusiasts?

“There are many reasons why people love the P6, and many have stories to tell about how family members used to own one", says Deborah, “The car is easy to work on, built on a base unit to which all mechanical units and body panels were bolted. There are still plenty of cars out there. With the knowledge and help from the Club and specialist parts suppliers – we’re confident the P6 model will continue to survive and thrive.”

And if 40th anniversaries aren’t enough, next year it’s time to celebrate 60 years of the P6 Rover yet another milestone for the fabulous P6 Rover Owners Club.
