With more than 2,000 members in the UK and across the world, our Club of the Month is the MG Octagon Car Club. A specialist club for pre-1956 MGs, it was founded in 1969 by Harry Crutchley along with a group of MG enthusiasts in the Stafford and Stoke area.
The club organises and promotes a wealth of social and sporting meetings throughout the year and does a laudable job of providing members with assistance and access to parts – to further interest in the preservation and renovation of vintage MG cars.
Run by enthusiasts and volunteers, the club’s very helpful folk are happy to help in areas such as car valuation, DVLA applications and general help with your pre-1956 MG.
Its regular events (pandemic permitting) range from one-day runs to weekend events were participants can stay at pre-booked accommodation. More local ‘meets’ are also arranged by the club. You will find details in Octagon’s impressively put-together magazine: The Bulletin, which is sent out 11 times a year to club members.
MG Octagon also has a very busy and informative Facebook group.
Club memberships start at £35 and run from 1 October through to 30 September yearly.
Graham Smith, a Director at MG Octagon Car Club, said: “It’s an honour to be named Club of the Month for May. We have worked with Lancaster Insurance for many years and genuinely appreciate all the help they have given us with our shows and events.”
He added: “Members love our club for many reasons, but they especially like our helpdesk because of the knowhow that’s on hand to help enthusiasts find the parts they need.”
