Club of the Month – Gay Classic Car Group

16 June 2021

June is Pride Month so what better way to mark the wholesale celebration of Britain’s LGBTQ community, than by having Gay Classic Car Group (GCCG) as our Club of the Month?

Formed way back by a few friends in 1988, following a chat in a London pub, GCCG now has more than 1,000 members. It’s home to classic car enthusiasts who take part in a series of regular online and face-to-face events which have a relaxed and inclusive atmosphere.

GCCG Meet up

The first event the club took part in was a 12-car London to Brighton Run. IN 1989, GCCG had a display at London Pride in Kennington Park. The club went from strength to strength in the 90s and it now publishes its regular newsletter (once produced on a black and white photocopier), Big End Journal, as a full-colour magazine.

Car meet up

GCCG has won several awards, including National Car Club of the Year and, more recently, it took the gong for Best Virtual Club Event at the Classic and Sports Car Club Awards, for its Fix-It-Weekend idea. Watch the virtual ceremony from that show here.
