The Great Classic Trade-Up
Lancaster Insurance Services take on Classics World in our 2022 restoration challenge!
It’s a classic match-up… so book your ringside seat for our restoration challenge!
This year Lancaster Insurance Services are challenging Classics World in a restoration challenge, to see who can upgrade their car to the most valuable vehicle by this November, where we’ll be crowning the winner at the Lancaster Insurance Services Classic Motor Show.
In the blue corner, we have the Lancaster legend Andrew ‘The Avenger‘ Evanson, and in the red corner the Classics World King, Phil ‘The Warrior’ Weeden in a fight to the matt finish.
The rules are simple:
- Each contestant had an initial £5,000 to buy and restore their first car
- They will sell this and use the profits to buy another car to restore and sell again… and so on and so forth
- The aim is to keep increasing the value of the car to see who ends up with the most valuable car by this year’s Classic Motor Show in November.
We're also giving you the chance to WIN one of the final cars at this years Lancaster Insurance Services Classic Motor Show.
Round 1: Fiat 127 Vs Honda Acty RomaHome
We featured our first classics on our stand at this year's Practical Classics Classic Car & Restoration Show on 18-20th March. Classics World pipped us to the post and sold their 1985 Honda Acty RomaHome at the show!
At Lancaster Insurance Services, we picked up this lovely little Fiat 127 produced between 1971 and 1983, with just 27,000 miles on the clock and every old MOT to prove that it’s genuine. According to DVLA records there are only 128 Fiat 127’s either taxed or SORN in the UK and only two of those are the 127 Super derivative like ours! We found the perfect owner for the Fiat in June.
Round 2: BMW E36 323i Vs 1993 Mazda MX5 Mk1 Eunos Roadster V-Spec Type 2 Edition
For our second car, we chose a rather special 1993 Mazda MX5 Mk1 Eunos Roadster in excellent condition. We're currently doing some restoration work - but it will be available to buy soon, so watch this space!
Classics World bagged a beautiful BMW E36 323 for their second car! As an added bonus, this particular example has the M-Sport body kit, and what appear to be genuine M3 alloys and door mirrors.
Round 3: A 1991 Golf GTI Cabriolet Vs ?????
Classics World have already bagged their third car of the challenge - a true 80's icon - a 1991 Golf GTI Cabriolet convertible - which they've already sold! We're still on the lookout for our third car and Classics World are now in the market for their fourth car - so if you have anything you think might fit the bill, make sure you get in touch at restochallenge@lancasterinsurance.co.uk.
Are you selling the perfect car for our next purchase in the challenge? If so, get in touch at restochallenge@lancasterinsurance.co.uk.
